Technology of investment casting

The technology of investment casting by lost wax model method offers many advantages:

Investment casting enables to cast high-precision castings of complicated shapes and from various alloys. Lost wax model made of filled synthetic wax is a prerequisite for small tolerances (VDG P690 D1-D3) and a high-quality surface that minimises the mechanical machining or possibly eliminates welding. Investment casting brings cost saving already at small series or even a few pieces.

Description of the technological process:

Before casting the casts it is necessary to produce a model device – a mould for production of wax models that, after pressing, have a positive shape of the final casting. Wax models are then mounted on the inflow system, creating a so-called tree. After assembling the tree, several layers of ceramic materials are applied onto it, creating a ceramic mould after the smelting of the wax. After annealing the ceramic mould, the metal can be poured into it. After cooling down, it is necessary to remove the ceramic mould so that it is possible to cut off the investment castings from the inflow system and to neaten the inflow rests.

We cast investment castings from stainless steel, alloy steels, carbon and tool steels, aluminium and tin bronzes. The achieved accuracies are laid down by standards STN 014470 , ČSN 014470, VDG P690. The surface of our investment castings has a roughness from Ra 3,2 and it is possible to supply the castings treated with corundum blasting, steel shot blasting, ballotini, electrochemical burnishing.
